Projectile Fighter presents a demanding arcade experience, characterized by a diverse roster of characters, each endowed with distinct abilities tailored for projectile-based combat against a multitude of opponents. This game distinguishes itself from traditional fighting games by leveraging projectiles as the primary means to influence match outcomes.

Players can engage with various elemental projectiles—including light, dark, wind, magma, earth, lightning, aqua, fire, ice, and plant—alongside a category designated as "unique," which encompasses any projectiles not classified under the standard elements. Each elemental category possesses inherent strengths and weaknesses, alongside an element it effectively counters. Characters in the game are defined by their elemental affinities, which dictate their most potent abilities, resistance capabilities, and absorption properties concerning projectiles.

The mechanics of Projectile Fighter facilitate basic offensive techniques that allow players to launch projectiles in different trajectories, including horizontal throws or angled shots while both standing or jumping. Defensive maneuvers involve deflecting incoming attacks, dodging, or absorbing projectiles. Beyond these fundamental techniques, a comprehensive array of special techniques exists for both offensive and defensive strategies as well as for enhancing character capabilities. Although all players can utilize any technique at their disposal, they are inclined to favor those that align with their character's strengths.

The game is complemented by a musical backdrop featuring seven original tracks, enhancing the overall atmosphere. Players can explore various projectile types—ranging from the light energy and dark vortex to techniques like the lava-based magma ball and the meteor strike from earth. Character classes include normal fighters, androids, mages, swordsmen, ninjas, hybrids, aliens, and deities.

The environments players contend within also vary significantly. Stages are artistically designed to reflect distinct themes: from heavenly skies in the light stage to urban landscapes under moonlit skies in the dark stage. Other themed stages include wind-swept meadows and raging volcanoes in the magma stage; each locale contributes uniquely to the combat experience.

Projectile Fighter demands precision reflexes and sustained concentration to master its intricate dynamics effectively.

Special techniques provided in-game include:

 <li>SPACE SHOT: Create a portal that launches a projectile from half-screen.</li>
 <li>CHARGE SHOT: Accumulate energy for an enhanced projectile attack.</li>

 <li>BARRIER: Generate a protective shield against incoming attacks.</li>
 <li>MIRROR: Deploy a mirror that automatically reflects deflectable projectiles.</li>

 <li>BLACKHOLE: Create an area that absorbs enemy projectiles.</li>
 <li>KINETIC BLOCK: Introduce an obstacle capable of disrupting projectile trajectories.</li>
 <li>STOP TIME: Halt movement entirely for opposing projectiles.</li>
 <li>ASTRAL CLONE: Utilize astral projection to launch projectiles.</li>
 <li>ALTER TERRAIN: Modify the stage environment to favor high-level elemental capabilities.</li>
 <li>CURE: Replenish health points.</li>
